General Information
Annual Meetings of the Psychometric Society have been held since
1935. The meeting has come to be called International Meeting of
the Psychometric Society (IMPS). The meetings have been held in
many countries, including the United States, China, Canada, the
Netherlands, Germany, England, Japan, Chile, Italy, and Hong
Kong, and are usually in June or July. Attendees and presenters
typically come from about 30 different countries. A recent
pattern has been to hold the meeting in North America (2012,
2014, 2016, 2018, 2023), Europe (2013, 2017, 2022,
2024), outside Europe/North America (2015, 2019). IMPS 2019
was held in South America (Chile) for the first time. We seek
proposals to host the 2027 and 2028 meetings.

The success of the conferences relies on having a dedicated local
organizing committee. Any member of the society can propose to
host a meeting. If you are interested in hosting a meeting, we
recommend you:
- Familiarize yourself with the meetings by attending at least
one and talking to relevant people, such as the local organizers,
the President,
President-Elect, Secretary, or other Board of Trustee members.
- Contact the Secretary of
the Psychometric Society to express your interest and
request information about hosting a meeting (such as examples of
previous proposals).
- Submit a Proposal Outline to the Secretary of the Psychometric Society.
The Psychometric Society announces the location of a future
meeting at least two years in advance of the meeting. Therefore,
we request proposal outlines at least 2 ½ years prior to the date
of the proposed meeting, usually by November. The Society
reserves the right to consider proposals for years other than the
proposed year. All Proposal Outlines will be reviewed by the
Board of Trustees. After receiving feedback from the Board of
Trustees, you may be asked to submit a Full Proposal to host the
conference. Final decisions regarding the Full Proposal will be
made by the Board of Trustees.
