Psychometrika Converting to Open Access!
New agreement with Cambridge University Press for 2025
The Psychometric Society and Cambridge University Press are pleased to announce that Psychometrika will transition to publication by Cambridge University Press and convert to a fully gold open access publication model for all authors in 2025. Volume 90 (2025) will be the first published entirely open access. By removing barriers to access Psychometrika, articles will be able to reach a wider audience of global researchers, furthering the Society’s mission to advance theory and methodology for data analysis throughout the social and behavioral sciences.
Cambridge’s research has shown that open access publications receive approximately 3.5 times more full-text views and on average 1.6 times more citations than subscription articles. In taking this step, Psychometrika will dismantle barriers to research access, while preserving equitable and fair publishing options for all authors.
Authors, including Society members, will benefit from Cambridge’s open access agreements with over 2,000 institutions worldwide in order to publish in Psychometrika free of charge. For those who are not affiliated with these institutions, a member APC rate will be offered of 25% off the list price, while a robust set of waiver and discount programs, including the Cambridge Open Equity Initiative, will ensure that no one in any location or at any career stage is prevented from publishing in the journal due to lack of funding or library coverage going forward.
Psychometrika’s archives remain freely available for members to read in full by logging in at https://www.psychometricsociety.org/.
