IMPS 2018 Summer Conference Housing

Information for Graduate Students: 

Summer Conference Housing for IMPS 2018 is now available. Located within walking distance of Columbia University, the dorm at Teachers College offers 24/7 security, laundry room, and Internet availability (Ethernet cable required).

Guests wishing to make a reservation for dates including Friday, Saturday, or Sunday are required to make the reservation to include all three nights and will be charged accordingly. You can arrive or depart on a weekend, but you will be charged the full weekend per the housing policy. 


At the present time, the room rates* for Conference Housing are as follows:


Rooms with one twin-size bed and no kitchen (comfortably sleeps one):

1-6 nights



7-13 nights



14-29 nights



30+ nights




Rooms with one full-size bed and private kitchen (comfortably sleeps two):

1-6 nights



7-13 nights



14-29 nights



30+ nights



 *Rooms with two beds are not available.


During the summer months (June - August) our office closes at 1:00 p.m. on Fridays (Eastern Standard Time). However, the New Residence Hall check-in Front Desk located at 517 West 121st Street (between Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway) is open 24/7. 


Rooms are limited, and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.


IMPORTANT: Please make sure on the application to specify a check-in and check-out date (number of nights) and note that you are an IMPS attendee when completing the application online.  This will help expedite the application review process.

Additional Housing Opportunities for IMPS 2018 Graduate Students: 


Housing reservations are now available in Schapiro Hall at Columbia University for IMPS 2018 Graduate Student participants. Please be aware this is dormitory-style housing. Guests may reserve a single room (one x-long twin size bed fully furnished with standard residence hall furnishings) in a corridor-style building. Each room will have access to common shared bathrooms as well as a floor kitchen and lounge. Specific information about Schapiro Hall can be found here.


Applications must be made by July 3, 2018, and are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all rooms are filled. (Please note on the application that you are an IMPS attendee.)


For university security purposes, all guests are required to submit a valid photo of themselves during the registration process.

The photo should be a color JPEG or PNG file.

The background should be uniform and light-colored.

You must be facing forward, with your head and shoulders clearly visible.

No photos with sunglasses or hats will be accepted.

Do not submit a photo of a photo.

The file must be 30kb or less.



The room rate is $90 per night per person, plus applicable 8.875% sales tax. A minimum of three nights is required for housing. There are no early arrivals or late extensions available.


Check-In and Check-Out:

Check-in begins on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Housing Office, located in the main lounge of Hartley Hall, 1124 Amsterdam Ave. More information about check-in procedures will be emailed approximately one week prior to your arrival. Guests may check out by Saturday, July 14, 2018, by 11:00 a.m. at the Conference Housing Office or by using the Express Check-Out box located in the lobby of Schapiro Hall.


Cancellation Policy:

The cancellation policy is as follows:

• Prior to July 6: $90 + tax

• July 6 or after: No refund will be given
